Chamber demands MLA Calahasen resign
Citing her ‘lack of intervention and leadership…to provide meaningful resolution to the issue of discriminatory business practices on Alberta’s Crown lands,’ the Slave Lake Chamber of Commerce last week demanded Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pearl Calahasen resign ‘immediately’.
Calahasen will meeet with Chamber
Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pearl Calahasen says she’ll meet with Slave Lake’s Chamber of Commerce later this month to discuss the strategy her government will use as it attempts to resolve the issue that’s pitted some contractors against some First Nations bands in the region. Ultimately she hopes to create a “win-win situation that’ll suit everyone” in the current dispute - and she hopes to complete that mission by mid-March.

SL Hotshot wins Men's Open Bonspiel
The turnout for the Men’s Open Bonspiel at the Slave Lake Curling Club this past weekend wasn’t what organizers had hoped. But that didn’t stop the 16 teams from having lots of fun and playing some close and exciting games.
Overtime losses kill Wolves' hopes for first place
Going into play on the weekend, the Slave Lake Wolves had a decent shot at first place in their division. All they could do about it was win their final three games.
As it turned out, the lost them both in overtime, handing Sexsmith home ice advantage in the division.
