First Nations 'not asking for 10 per cent'
Two First Nations groups that make up the three-member KeeTasKeeNow Tribal Council reject claims they’re asking petroleum companies or contractors to pay 10 or 15 per cent of the price of development contracts on what they call their traditional lands.
Library looks for $20,000
Passed over for what they see as nine times in the past decade, members of the Slave Lake Library Board met with Slave Lake Town council last week to ask for a $20,000 raise which they say will still leave them well below the provincial average.

War for Peace in Slave Lake
The Peace River Navigators have a bad habit of coming to Slave Lake and getting kicked around like mangy mongrels. At home they are a much better team – as they demonstrated on Saturday by beating Fort St. John. But here in Slave Lake it’s been one blowout after another with lots of bruises and nothing to show for it.
Winterhawks end regular season winners
Slave Lake’s Senior Winterhawks continued their winning style on the weekend, beating the Whitecourt Cats 9 – 3 in their final regular season game. Playoffs will likely start this weekend, but there was no word on Monday morning.
