Group considers raising the weir
The group studying lake levels on the Lesser Slave could ask the province’s permission to temporarily raise the weir at the east end of the lake a foot as it tries to ensure there’ll be enough water for industry this summer. But that won’t happen without feedback from several public meetings and blessings from federal and provincial governments.
Redgate 'hopeful' conclusion nearing
There could be a light at the end of the tunnel for contractors who’ve been pleading with the province to take a stand on the Crown versus ‘traditional land’ issue after the province promised it will organize a meeting of all stakeholders – contractors included – “sooner than later.”

Wolves stay alive with Sunday win
The Slave Lake Wolves’ hopes for a league championship are still alive, but they’re hanging by a thread. In fact the Wolves are in exactly the same position that they had the Sexsmith Vipers in the last round. Lose a game and they’re out. Keep winning and they stay alive.
Bantams make semis at provincials
Slave Lake’s Bantam Sabres made a good account of themselves at the provincial ‘A’ championships in Wainwright on the weekend. The Sabres won two of three of their round robin games before losing the semi-final to Ponoka.
