That NHL playoff pool you’ve been hearing so much about is up to over 500 entries, according to our source near the source. You know what that means: bigger prizes to the winners. Supplies are limited, says the source, so don’t wait too long to purchase your entry from Harry Bartlett or Sports First. The pool is to raise money for the proposed Slave Lake Community Complex, which in part will replace the condemned Walter Twinn Theatre with something that has a roof that doesn’t leak. The NHL playoffs get going sometime in the second week of April, which means they should end about early August. Go Oilers go!

Derek Air Poland Kubicki tells us he’s got 14 teams for sure for his Apr. 4 – 6 basketball tournament at Roland Michener School. Kubicki’s own team, the Hooligans, have probably got their game plan down to a fine art by now, although we can’t say for sure because we’ve never seen them practicing. We did see one of the Hoolies practicing his golf swing at the Fairways in the Sawridge Hotel, but you can’t tell much from that.
