Dennis Barton is up to something. Last week he was up to challenging the government on some discrepancy involving the reduction of health regions from 16 or 17 to nine. Dennis was doing some figuring and calculating and was going to make a case for reducing his health care premium!

What a ton of fun it was looking through the musical theatre scrapbooks for the story on Pages 20 and 21 of this week’s paper! So much creativity – not to mention hard work – went into all those productions. The research included watching a video of the 1985 production ‘Oklahoma!’ at Roland Michener School. It starts with a shockingly youthful Gordon Ferguson strolling around in cowboy duds singing Oh What a Beautiful Morning and flirting shamelessly with Rita Beaudoin. The Leader’s own Kim Wilde looked fabulous as anything as Gertie, the gal that ends up marrying Kevin Pack’s goofy Persian peddler Ali Hakim. Looking at that stuff makes you wonder if Slave Lake’s theatre community has got another ‘major musical’ in it. Or even a minor one.
