Boundary change will split community
The province should pay more attention to municipal maps and realities when it’s redrawing electoral boundaries, says the reeve for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. That’s because a boundary change that was quietly accepted in the Alberta legislature in recent weeks effectively splits the community of Moose Portage from itself and the neighbouring Otter Creek subdivision, says Sheila Foley.
M.D. calls for Grizzly area access
Outdoor enthusiasts have every reason to be angry with the province’s recent decision to limit access to the Grizzly Ridge park southwest of Slave Lake, say councillors for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. That’s why they’re adding their voice to the chorus of complainants.

Ladies' fastball returns to Slave Lake
Ladies fastball made its return to Slave Lake last Wednesday night after about a 20-year absence. And the Slave Lake Storm gave the spectators something to talk about, beating a team from Whitefish Lake by a score of 15 – 10.
Heat split pair with Strathcona
Win one, lose one – that’s what the Sawridge Jr. ‘AAA’ Heat have done so far in their Alberta Junior Baseball League season. Against the Strathcona Athletics on Sunday the Heat sneaked out a 1 – 0 extra-inning win in the first game, and lost 5 – 3 in the second.
