The Sawridge Heat and the Wabasca Indians remained undefeated in Southshore Men’s Baseball League play last week. The Heat remain atop the league standings with six wins, no losses and no ties, and the Indians are second with three wins and two ties.
On Monday night the Indians and the Boss Pressure Red Sox ended up in a 7 - 7 tie. Wabasca scored six in the third inning to take a sizable lead, but the Sox drove in five in their last at bat to tie the score. Then they hit into a double play to kill the rally.
The Heat and Eagles chose to watch NHL playoffs instead of playing their Monday game.
On Wednesday the Widewater Eagles got their first win of the season, beating Kinuso 6 - 4. Ken Fournier was the winning pitcher.
On Thursday the Heat beat the Cardinals 5 - 1 for their sixth victory of the season.
The other game saw Wabasca come back to beat Kinuso 8 - 6 after being down 6 - 3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Five of the men’s league teams were in action at the Widewater Sports Days tournament on the weekend.
