Slave Lake, Alberta

Soccer teams win gold in Millet

Two Slave Lake soccer teams won first place at a tournament in Millet on the June 14 weekend. The Under 12 Boys and Girls both got the job done, bringing home gold medals and maintaining the record of success Slave Lake teams have had at tournaments in recent years.
At the same tournament, the Under 16 Boys won bronze. The Under 14 Boys and Girls teams played well but finished out of the medals.
Slave Lake soccer teams also participated in an Edmonton tournament a week earlier, but none finished in the top three.
On July 5 and 6, the Under 16 Girls will compete at the Tier IV Provincials in Morinville. The U16 Boys might as well, but they have to get past a Peace River team this weekend for the right to represent the district at Morinville. The U14 Girls will play at provincials the same weekend in Red Deer.
