Junior dancers taking part in Reanna Maitland’s summer dance school last week honed their skills to near perfection by the end of the session. Dancers in this class included (not in order) Braydee Anderson, Emily Chance, Ashtyn Couturier, Nicole Demerchant, Hailey Forseth, Skye Hapfe, Megan Johnston, Alex Lacey, Laurie Lacey Erikka Ladoceur and Jordan Murray.

Cattle ranchers keep fingers crossed, hope border opens
Ranchers in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River are keeping their fingers crossed as they wait for officials in the United States to reopen their borders to Canadian cattle as the mad cow disease dilemma winds down.

Wabasca Indians’ catcher Jerry Jackson fails to squeeze a high pitch in last Wednesday’s game between the Indians and the Boss Pressure Red Sox. A run scored on the play. Batting is Garth Lacombe and calling the play is umpire Trevor Pick. The Red Sox went on to win the game.

Heat split with league-leading Tigers
The Sawridge Jr. ‘AAA’ Heat continued their trend of splitting doubleheaders on the weekend. Up against the powerful St. Albert Tigers, the Heat lost badly in the first game, but battled back to win another close one in the second.

Men's league playoffs underway
The Southshore Men’s Baseball League finished its regular season in a flurry of games last week and is already into the playoffs. The season could be wrapped up as early as this Friday.
