Gordon and Dorathy Ferguson of EPR Gordon C. Ferguson and Company were honoured last week with the Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Award at a ceremony at the Northwest Inn. Cited in the decision were Ferguson’s business growth and longtime involvement in local causes. “He exemplifies commitment to the community,” said fellow small businessman Darrell Lund. Chamber treasurer Angel Meinecke (l) presented the award.

A 25-year-old High Prairie woman, Carmen L’Hirondelle, was killed Oct. 18, 25 kilometres south of Kinuso.

When the Slave Lake Wolves ever win back to back games on a weekend it will be cause for celebration. But not too much of a celebration, because they don’t want to lose focus on winning the next game. And the next one and the one after that.

Slave Lake’s Senior men’s hockey team, the Winterhawks, won their second game of the season on Saturday in Edson. It was a lot tougher than the first one.
