M.D. wants provincial commitment on lake, river study
The province wants a three-way split of financial commitment from industry, the municipalities and the Environment department as the three study levels and flows of the Lesser Slave Lake and its namesake river. But councillors for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River say the province has to be specific about how much it’s prepared to spend on the exercise, too.
New town office complex to cost 'several millions'
They’ve asked for interested bidders to offer letters of interest. They’ve created their short list. Now Town of Slave Lake officials are asking bidders to come up with a proposal for what they’re calling a ‘Community Services Hub’. It’s the proposed facility that’ll house both a new Town office and a plethora of provincial government department offices.

Bantam Sabres win tournament
Slave Lake’s Bantam Sabres showed up when it counted on the weekend, winning a tournament final against a team that had beat them earlier in the weekend. They did it decisively too, clobbering the Peace River Sabres 9 – 4.
Winterhawks smash Whitecourt
What can you say about a blowout win? Slave Lake Winterhawks’ Coach Lorne Poitras couldn’t think of much after the ‘Hawks crushed the Whitecourt Cats 15 – 0 in Whitecourt on Saturday.
Wolves continue losing skid
Things are not going according to plan for the Slave Lake Wolves. Losers of seven straight games, the Jr. ‘B’ team seems to be unable to do whatever it takes to win a game.
