Klein meeting with chiefs positive, Calahasen says
First Nations’ representatives meeting with Premier Ralph Klein and several of his ministers “went very well,” last week, according to MLA and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Pearl Calahasen who was also at that meeting.

Pibroch woman dies in Hwy. 2 crash
Slave Lake RCMP are investigating the death of a Pibroch woman in an auto accident near Hondo. Judy Walter, 42, died when the truck she was a passenger in hit a guardrail at about 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 17.

Sports Highlights

The Pee Wee ‘A’ Roughnecks got a big monkey off their backs with a win over Athabasca on Saturday. They followed it up by beating the same Athabasca team in Athabasca on Sunday for their second league win of the season.

Huskies beat Wolves
The Fort St. John Huskies seem to be gaining that championship confidence back as the season goes on. The only team the Wolves have beaten twice this year came into Slave Lake and handled the home team 6 – 2 on Saturday night. They’ve been winning a lot of their other games too, and seem to be rounding into form for the stretch run.

Pee Wee Roughnecks break out
It’s been a tough season for the Pee Wee ‘A’ Roughnecks so far. They went into the weekend’s play without a single win in league competition. What Roughnecks did have, though, was a bit of confidence coming off a win in a tournament earlier this month.
