It wasn’t a gang of puck-shooting hoodlums on the prowl, but the masked men who showed up at The Point on the weekend were actually staff from the M.D. of Lesser Slave River telling their former boss, Jack Ramme that it was time to move on (only joking!) They performed the homemade rap song, just for the boss who’s moved on to the M.D. of Yellowhead near Edson.

Teen dies in rollover
A 17-year-old Canyon Creek resident on his way to school Thursday morning died when the vehicle he was driving crossed the centre line entered the north ditch and rolled about 14 km west of Slave Lake.

Decent Saturday, bad Sunday for Wolves
As usual, the Wolves seemed to get the worst of the Saturday night post-game carryings-on, and were not up to scratch against the Grande Prairie Wheelers in the second game of a weekend double-header. Saturday’s game was a close one – won by the Wheelers in overtime.
Winterhawks pound Edson Ice
Saturday’s Senior hockey game in Edson between the Slave Lake Winterhawks and the Edson Ice didn’t provide much drama. The Winterhawks dominated, as usual, winning 9 – 0. Most of the excitement – judging by the scoresheet – came in the form of heavyweight bare- knuckle boxing matches, of which there were five.
