Weyerhaeuser selling out to Tolko
Weyerhaeuser is selling its Slave Lake oriented strandboard mill and associated timber rights to Tolko Industries – the owner of similar but newer and bigger mill in High Prairie. The companies jointly announced an agreement last Wednesday, Jan. 21. Pending approvals, they expect the $56 million deal to be finalized by Feb. 27.
New comm. tower means good news, bad news for ambulance service
Notice earlier this year that the Slave Lake Air/Ground Ambulance Society will have built its own communications tower by the end of April came like a $35,000 punch in the stomach. But recent negotiations between the Society and its landlord in the Sustainable Resource Development department has softened the blow somewhat, and has revealed a small silver lining to the cloud.

Pee Wees put the boots to Whitecourt
It appears no team is safe from the rejuvenated Pee Wee ‘A’ Roughnecks these days. That includes league-leading boys from Whitecourt, who came to town Saturday and got beat by a Slave Lake team that has found out how to win and likes doing it.
Wolves lose in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd
So much for the winning streak.
The Slave Lake Wolves looked in much better shape after two recent home wins, but the good times ran out quickly on the road last week. Wednesday night in Peace River they got hammered 11 – 2 and then on Saturday in Sexsmith they lost 9 – 1.
