Lots of drivers blowing through three-way stop
The new three-way stop system at the 6th Ave. and 6th St. S.E. intersection went into operation last Wednesday. Early indications are that it is working most of the time, but there are incidents of drivers cruising right through without noticing the signs.

Six years for Smith sexual assaults
A provincial court judge sentenced a Smith man to six years in jail after the man admitted late last month to four counts of sexual assault on children.

Great weekend for the Wolves
Talk about your miracles on ice. The Slave Lake Wolves put on such a good show in their 2 – 1 loss to Dawson Creek Saturday night that their Sunday crowd was as big or bigger than the night before – and that never happens!

Winterhawks play with fire, don't get burned
Taking 11 skaters on a road trip is a bad idea in anybody’s books, but the Slave Lake Winterhawks got away with it on Saturday. They beat the Fox Creek Bandits 7 – 2 to close out their regular season, and probably bumped Fox Creek out of the playoffs while they were at it.
