Slave Lake, Alberta

Option Machine Oilmen's winners again

Keith Mielke has been to the top of the Slave Lake Oilmen’s before, and there he was again Sunday afternoon. Mielke, the Skip for the Option Machine rink of Drayton Valley, led his team to a 5 - 2 ‘A’ Event victory over Vertech Consulting to capture the 40th annual Oilmen’s Bonspiel.
Vertech, skipped by Duane Verschoor, had a great run, but didn’t have quite the right stuff in the final. The Option Machine shotmaking was consistently better through the late going. Mielke even stole one in the eighth, when all Vertech’s late shots wrecked on guards out front. It would have taken a miracle, and Vertech didn’t have one.
In the ‘B’ final, Brentag beat Silverline of Rainbow Lake 6 - 4. The ‘C’ Event final saw GMC Oilfield beat Don Tradewell’s Encana rink 9 - 3.
Two Slave Lake teams battled for the ‘D’ title, with Ken Bolan’s Slave Safety team gaining the upper hand early and adding to it for an 8 - 1 win over Rick Lukan’s Seguin Construction rink.
The ‘E’ Event went to Weatherford Comple- tions over Exxon/Mobil.
