Mother Nature smiled on the fifth annual Diabetes Road Relay Race from Slave Lake to Wabasca on Saturday. It wasn’t exactly warm at the start, but it was sunny and calm as 11 first-leg runners took off from the Sawridge Truckstop at about 7:10 a.m.

Vandals wreak havoc in Southshore
Damage totals continue to climb for the Widewater Athletic Association as vandals cut a new swath of destruction at the Widewater Community Complex in Wagner last week. Complex administrator Debbie Pawluski says unknown persons dismantled the entire back of one set of bleachers then ventured over to break windows and rip a door off its hinges in a vacant building near the firehall in Widewater so they could ride ATVs inside.
