After being soundly defeated in the bed races Monday, the Cadastral Group got serious, discovering all three hockey balls Tuesday morning before gathering a fistful of decisive wins in several other categories over the next few days, wrapping up with an inspiring hands-down victory in the air band competition Friday night.

Garratt takes run at reeve's chair
“We’re all in the same boat and if we all row together in the same direction, we’ll get where we need to go.”
That, in essence is the guiding principle of the council for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River, says the man who’s the first to toss his hat in the ring to replace a resigning Reeve Sheila Foley. And Denny Garratt says he’d like to see that co-operation across the municipality continue.
Busted on Muskeg Road
Vehicle weights could be severely limited on Muskeg Road (the Old Smith Highway) east of Slave Lake in coming months after one driver was caught red-handed wrecking the road at night as he attempted to avoid the weigh scales on Hwy. 2 last month.

Craig Pearson of Roland Michener School in Slave Lake won medals at the provincial high school track and field championships in Calgary earlier this month. Pearson won gold in discus and bronze in shot put.

Cadastral rules in Corporate Challenge
They got off to a slow start in bed racing. They bombed in movie trivia. But on the second morning of the Community Corporate Challenge, The Cadastral Group team had the balls and nobody else had any.
Craig Pearson a double medalist
Craig Pearson, a Grade 11 student at Roland Michener School in Slave Lake, is the provincial Intermediate Men’s Discus champion. He also won a bronze medal in shot put at the Calgary tournament earlier this month.
