There’s a Canada Day Fun Time slated for the Pioneers Drop In Centre, our friends the seniors tell us. It’s from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and will include crib, bingo, refreshments and snacks.

Our Good Buddy Harry Bartlett has got a brand new ball tournament up his sleeve (is anyone surprised??), but this time Harry says it’s really, really big.
In fact, the Rotary Club of Slave Lake is hosting its first annual Sports Festival at the Southshore Community Complex July 23-25, with room for up to 20 co-ed slowpitch teams.
There’s lots of cash prizes up for grabs, but even better, in conjunction with Nordic Sales, Rotary is also hosting a chance for someone – very likely a pitcher – to win $10,000 – and a chiropractic bed.
That’s right, 10,000 big ones, in cool, hard cash. The way it works is they’re selling tickets for $5, and on the Sunday afternoon of the Sports Festival, will draw 10 names. Each of those 10 persons will have a chance to throw a baseball at a hole in a sheet of plywood. Any that can do it will walk away with 10,000 cool ones or a portion thereof in their pocket.
All those 10 names will be dropped into a hat and one will be pulled out for the bed give-away. And this isn’t just any old roll-away, it’s a Springwall chiropractic bed.!
Harry says he’s heard from teams as far away as Peace River, so is encouraging local clubs to ante up their registration fees soon. Call Harry, 805-0482 or 849-4042.
