Action on the back nine at Gilwood
The back nine project at Gilwood Golf Club is in full swing again this summer. Last week crews were securing the rim of the giant, seven-acre pond against future slumping, building the sand base of the tee boxes and doing final shaping. According to club president Carl Chykerda, the irrigation system is set to go in this month, with seeding expected to take place in August.
Brewers take over men's league lead
The Kinuso Brewers vaulted to the top of the standings in the Southshore Men’s Baseball League last week with three wins and a tie. Two of them were by default, but the points were the same as the Brewers improved to seven wins, two losses and one tie, with two games to play.
