Woman tried to end it on tracks

Slave Lake RCMP pulled an apparently suicidal woman off the railroad tracks last Wednesday (July 14) as a train approached.
She was unharmed, but faces five charges in Slave Lake Provincial Court this Wednesday.
According to a release from RCMP Cpl. Don Murray, police were investigating a downtown break-in at 5:20 a.m. when they heard the sound of a train braking. At the scene they found, “a distraught 19-year-old female standing before the oncoming train attempting to commit suicide.”
The woman – whose name police did not release – was combative and had to be forced out of harms way. Alcohol was a factor, says Murray in his release.
The woman faces charges of resisting arrest, mischief, trespassing and two counts of breach of probation.
In other railway-related issues, Town and RailLink officials are concerned about the amount of foot traffic on the tracks.
