The Slave Lake Sharks swim club hosted their award ceremony and season wrap up late last month, saluting swimmers for a job well done.
First up were the junior swimmers, and a Most Valuable Player recognition for Kirk Lukan Ruecker who earned a number of medals – including provincial recognition — for his club this summer.
Coaches saluted Eric Labrie and Robyn Chemago for their hard work, with awards for Most Dedicated junior swimmers.
And for Alyssa McLaren there was the Most Improved award for a job well done.
In the senior swimmer division, MVP honours went to Brooke Verschoor who earned many aggregate awards and medals this summer.
Lesy Miller and Morgan Hogberg received the recognition as the team’s Most Dedicated in the senior swimmer department.
And last, but not least, Cody Way received honours for the Most Improved swimmer in the senior class.
Coach Lenny Richer says the barbeque dinner at Schurter Park was also a chance for coaches to get some ‘sweet revenge’ by handing out a number of gag awards.
“It was a nice way to end the season, a chance to get together, socialize and say farewell to some of the older swimmers who might not be back next season.”
