There’s a lot of talk about development south of Hwy. 2 these days and that will someday include housing that will give some lucky homeowner this view. This photo was taken at 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 21 next to the Slave Lake Cemetery. The completion of the cemetery beautification project was celebrated on Sunday.

Record field in running for Town council
So much for the weak elections of recent years.
No less than 15 people are in the running for six spots on Slave Lake Town council following last Monday’s (Sept. 20) nomination deadline. According to Returning Officer Ed Procyshyn, that’s the most ever by three.
Eleven vie for seven seats in M.D.
Incumbents, former councillors and greenhorns – nine in all — have served notice they’d like to serve as councillors for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River for the coming term. And two formerly declared candidates for the reeve’s seat made it official when they filed their nomination papers at the deadline last Monday (Sept. 20).

Gold for Gamble in Seniors' Games
He’s panned for gold and he’s won gold in the past. But this time when Slave Lake’s Don Gamble went looking for gold in Yukon Territory it wasn’t gold dust or nuggets. His quest was for a gold medal – this one in the shape of a panner’s dish, and the challenge was darts.
Wolves tune up in Calling Lake
The Slave Lake Wolves got a couple of exhibition games under their belts on the weekend. Although they lost both, the experience was a positive one as far as coaching and management are concerned.
