Pillay-Kinnee wins Slave Lake mayoral race
Slave Lakers voted in big numbers for a total political outsider in Monday’s election, putting adult education worker Karina Pillay-Kinnee into the mayor’s chair. They returned three incumbent councillors to work with her and elected three novices as well.

Wolves lose, but look better
The Slave Lake Wolves are still looking for their first win of the season after a couple of games against Grande Prairie on the weekend. But there were plenty of good signs in a couple of 5 – 4 losses.
Storm learning the hard way
Sooner or later the Midget Storm will win a hockey game. But this past weekend wasn’t the time, as they lost 7 – 3 to Whitecourt in a league game Friday and then dropped a 5 – 2 exhibition game to High Prairie on Sunday.
