We hear from Kelli at Excel Martial Arts that students there have set themselves a goal to collect a whopping 1,500 pounds of food for the local food bank. She says at a Family Food Bank Fun night last week they collected 195 pounds of food.
Way to go Excel students!
Kelli says the fun nights happen the last Wednesday of every month, at 7:00, and are open to “friends and family members who want to join in the fun!” Classes are held in the C.J. Schurter gym, and Keli says Excel loves visitors..and also welcomes questions about classes for everyone from Pre –Ninja (three and four year olds) to adults (who don’t give their ages).
She says the school is also hosting an Interclub Tournament on Nov. 20, that’ll be fun and a first for many of the students.

An RCMP constable who used to hang his hat in this community stopped by the other day. Seems he’s moved to Wabasca and we didn’t even realize that had happened. So anyone who happens to go to that fair northern town and sees Const. Ryan Gardiner hanging out or stopping vehicles, don’t be surprised..Like Carson Creaser, the former Slave Lake constable has transfered north. Something about the air and wide open spaces.

We heard from former Slave Lake reporter Tamara Stecyk the other day. She’s told us she’d just been promoted to Editor of the Edson Leader. Way to go Tammy!
