As of press time there was still no Liberal or New Democrat opposition for incumbent Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pearl Calahasen. Seeking her fifth term, Calahasen swung into action as soon as the writ was dropped for the Nov. 22 provincial election – as did her 82 counterparts
Dialysis unit sod-turning won't happen until spring
A dialysis unit promised for Slave Lake won’t be open by Christmas. In fact ground-breaking for the building to house the dialysis machines in the community won’t happen until the spring of next year, an official from MLA Pearl Calahasen’s office admitted last week.

Close again for Wolves, but not close enough
Sooner or later all that hard work is going to pay off. The Slave Lake Wolves put in two games of good effort against the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks on the weekend, but all it got them was another couple of losses.
Pushing to re-open ski hill
Dan Seguin is not much of a skier, but he would like to see the Grizzly Ridge ski hill back in business. He likes the idea so much he’s got 800 signatures of support and is ready to do whatever work is necessary to re-open the hill.
