Housing crunch hard on first-time buyers
“We had three people with good jobs (offered to them) in here in January who had to turn them down because they couldn’t find anything decent they could afford,” says Ken Giblin, owner of Century 21 real estate in Slave Lake. He says there is a housing crunch is Slave Lake and it is especially hard on those looking to buy a starter home.

Winterhawks thrash Drayton Valley in battle for first place
The game was for first place and home-ice advantage in the playoffs, so it was as big as they get in the regular season. As they usually do, the fans picked up on that and twice as many as usual showed up to watch the Winterhawks take on the Drayton Valley Wildcats Saturday night. They got their money’s worth.

Nobody expected the Slave Lake Wolves to beat the league-leading Fort St. John Huskies on the weekend. But nobody expected a double-figure blowout either.
