Mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee joined the Slave Lake Tae Kwon Do Club at the Sawridge Mall, Saturday, for a Break-a-thon to raise money for the Red Cross. So far $1,500 in pledges have been collected.

The Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta aren’t impressed by government efforts to come up with a consultation policy. They flat-out reject what they’ve seen of the policy so far.
Town must bite bullet on arena roof
It may not have come as a surprise but it was still a shock when Town council heard the bottom line on the Arena #1 roof at its Feb. 1 meeting.
If there is to be hockey in the building next season it must be fixed up in the off-season. The least that would cost is $125,000 and it could be as much as $200,000.

Wolves look good in 3 - 2 victory
It’s a good week when the Wolves win, even if it means nothing in the playoff standings. On Saturday the Wolves played a tough, hard game and for once it paid off, beating the Grande Prairie Wheelers 3 – 2.
Winterhawks clinch first place
The Slave Lake Winterhawks didn’t take much of a team to Fox Creek on Saturday. Eleven skaters was all they could muster for a game that had huge importance.
