'Clean' beach gets 50 more metres
Assuming the Community Development minister approves the latest proposal, Devonshire Beach-lovers will have 400 metres of clean beach this summer. That’s the news from the stakeholder committee that’s been studying and discussing the issue for the past few months.
Honda, hotel to build across Hwy. 2
Grizzly Ridge Honda will be the first business open for business south of Hwy. 2 in Slave Lake. At least that’s how it looks after Town council approved a development agreement with Mouallem Developments last week.

Sports Highlights

The Ladies Bonspiel took place over the weekend. Some curlers, like the lady from Team ATB Financial pictured above, dressed up for the event. In ‘A’ event, Team Gummow’s from Swan Hills, skipped by Connie Wurm came in first. In the ‘B’ event, Team Dahlside from Cold Lake, skipped by Sharon Dahlside came in first. In the ‘C’ event, Team D’Lanne Electro skipped by Donna Eben came in first and was the highest placed team from Slave Lake.

Winterhawks move on to final round
The Jasper Wolves put up a fight at home, but it was the Winterhawks of Slave Lake stealing out of the mountains with a first-round playoff victory on Saturday. The ‘Hawks won it 6 – 5 in overtime, on a goal by Brent Blachford.
Wolves down 2 - 0 to Huskies
The Slave Lake Wolves need to be at their absolute best to play with the Fort St. John Huskies. They were considerably less than that last week in the first two games of their best-of-five playoff series with the Huskies.
