The Boys and Girls Club of Slave Lake hosted an evening of fun Easter activities for families at Northern Lakes College last Wednesday. Organizers set up tables in the library for egg painting, face painting and craft making. There was even a table for making cardboard Easter bunny ears. As well as activities in the gym, the college library was converted into a hiding ground for Easter eggs. Dozens of youngsters hunted for eggs among the book stacks.

New heart monitor $7,000 closer
The Slave Lake Air/Ground Ambulance Society is closer to its goal of purchasing a new heart monitor for paramedics after a fundraising dinner.
No crime in Wabasca death
At first, Desmarais RCMP was calling the Mar. 21 death of Patrick Arthur Young suspicious. But one day later they were satisfied the death of the 61-year-old Wabasca resident was accidental.

The Kodiaks’ Tammy Lukan roughs it up in front of the Peace River net in last Wednesday’s league playoff game. It was the Sharks who roughed up the Kodiaks on the scoreboard, advancing to the league final. The Kodiaks will have to settle for the provincial championship.

Winterhawks add provincial championship
If the Slave Lake Winterhawks keep this up they’ll need a new trophy case. Last week a league championship; this week the one that has eluded them four or five times – the provincial Senior ‘A’ championship.
Novie Wild win league championship
Slave Lake’s Novice Wild is the Sturgeon Pembina League champion. The youngsters won the trophy by beating their hometown rivals, the Roughnecks 16 - 9 in a two-game, total-goal series.
