A Checkstop last Friday pulled over about 800 vehicles in a four-hour period at the weigh scales on Hwy. 2 just east of Slave Lake. RCMP, Aspen RHA, Fish & Wildlife, Alberta Transportation, the Town and M.D. all took part. Here, RCMP Const. Anne House checks a driver’s documents.

McEvoy recruiting near and far for ball team
A month ago these pages reported that local businessman and baseball promoter Hugh McEvoy was planning to put a Senior Men’s baseball team together to challenge for the provincials. Last week McEvoy showed up at The Leader office with an Arizona tan and all kinds of details on the project.
Local teams undefeated at Banff tournament
A group of Wolves, ex-Wolves and friends competed and did well at tournament in Banff and Canmore on the Apr. 9 weekend. The Wolves played four, won four and won their division in the Canadian Hockey Enterprises tournament.
