:Protect Old Town river shoreline, survey says
Area residents want to protect the shoreline of the Lesser Slave River from development according to a survey released at a public meeting on future planning in the ‘old town’ area near the mouth of the river.
Downtown losing another business
Come July 1 of this year, don’t look for Radio Shack, because you won’t find it. Instead it’ll be called ‘The Source by Circuit City,’ reflecting a corporate takeover.

Local hockey player going places
Kevin Taylor, a 15-year-old Slave Lake Grade 9 student, is among 80 hockey players competing for a spot on the 2007 Alberta Cup Midget team. He survived the first cut from 160 down to 80, and will be back on the ice trying to impress the coaches at a July camp in Camrose.
Watch out: here come the Sharks
The Slave Lake Sharks took 19 of their 40 swimmers to Peace River on June 11.
At the end of the individual races they were in second place with 582 points. Grande Prairie was in first place with 597 points.
