Telus workers walk off the job
Slave Lake’s six Telus employees joined 13,700 of their colleagues in B.C. and Alberta on the picket line last week Their association – the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) – gave the walkout order after Telus announced it was imposing an un-negotiated contract.

Wabasca finishes first in men's league
Regular season play in the local men’s league wrapped up last week, with the Wabasca Indians in top spot. The defending league champ Boss Pressure Red Sox missed their chance at first by dropping their final two games.

Storm on track
The Slave Lake Storm started the playoffs on a positive note, beating High Prairie in the first of their best-of-five semi-final series on July 20.
