Carbon offset credits might pose an interesting opportunity for Alberta farmers. But at least one local farmer (and M.D. councillor) isn’t thrilled with the way the feds are handling the situation.
Man's death 'suspicious'
Police are being fairly tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding the Dec. 18 death of Donald Bennett Laboucan. But Slave Lake RCMP Cpl. Scott Buchanan did confirm late last week that Laboucan was indeed found dead on the morning of the 18th in a Slave Lake hotel room.

Slave Lake goalie makes Arctic Winter Games team
Midget goalie Megan Melnyczuk is one of two goalies on Team Alberta North’s Junior Female hockey team competing for gold at the Arctic Winter games in Kenai, Alaska in March. She made the cut at a tryout camp in Beaverlodge in early December.
Junior Winterhawks win
The Slave Lake Pee Wee ‘B’ Jr. Winterhawks continued their winning ways in a pre-Christmas game against Barrhead. Playing on the road, the Jr. ‘Hawks came up with a 5 – 2 victory.
