The Winterhawks’ Gordie Dierker whacks in what would have been Slave Lake’s first goal from short range against Fox Creek goalie Ian Chwok - but the referee waved it off. Chwok was brilliant and the underdog Bandits forced the ‘Hawks into overtime.

'Hawks move on, but look vulnerable
If anybody could have predicted such a close game against Fox Creek, the building would have been twice as full. As it was, a modest crowd showed up for Game #2 of the playoff series between the Winterhawks and the Bandits and saw the most exciting Senior hockey game of the season.

Wolves grab 10th victory at home
The hard-working Slave Lake Wolves pulled another home victory out of the bag on Saturday. It wasn’t a pretty one – and in the third period it looked like it might actually slip away – but the Wolves hung on to defeat the Sexsmith Vipers 5 – 4.
