Town tax mistake means money back for some
Thanks to a mistake by the Town of Slave Lake, 38 Slave Lake property owners will be getting their 2005 property taxes back. That’s if they’ve paid them, which given the very late notification, they might not have.
Man breaks leg in intersection crash
Contrary to the talk around town, a crash at the Main St. and Hwy. 2 intersection on Feb. 18 did not involve one of the vehicles running a red light. It had to do with one vehicle making a left turn in front of the other.
Jean bids adieu to 'highway of death.'
Athabasca Member of Parliament Brian Jean was on Cloud Nine last week over the news that the road he calls ‘the highway of death” will finally be twinned. The sooner the better, says the Ft. McMurray resident.

Winterhawks move on to league final
The Slave Lake Winterhawks did what they were supposed to do on Saturday, finishing off the Lamont Bruins and moving on to the next round of the playoffs. They now face the winner of the Jasper – Drayton Valley series for the North Central Hockey League championship.

The Junior ‘B’ hockey season came to a screeching halt on Saturday, as the Slave Lake Wolves went down three games to none to the Grande Prairie Wheelers.
