An Edmonton man died on Mar. 29 when he was thrown from a vehicle on Hwy. 88 north of Slave Lake. The driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries.
“The driver had a seatbelt on,” says Red Earth Creek RCMP Const. Barry Rediron.
The passenger didn’t, and that appeared to be the differnce.
The accident happened shortly after 8:00 a.m. about 50 kilometres north of Slave Lake. The vehicle carrying the two Edmonton men was southbound. According to what police heard from an eyewitness, the driver overcorrected after drifting part way off the road. The vehicle flipped, sending the unsecured passenger flying. Road conditions and visibility were good, and there was no suggestion of another vehicle or an animal on the road having been a factor.
RCMP have not released the name of the deceased.
