Credit union coming to Slave Lake
Look for a financial institution in a booth at next month’s Slave Lake trade show. It’s called Common Wealth Credit Union, and it has plans to set up shop in Slave Lake. The doors open, says company president Jeff Mulligan, in early 2007.

Smith man wants to build driving range on old nuisance grounds
The sound of clubs striking balls, along with the odd curse, may soon be heard regularly in the hamlet of Smith. If he gets the green light from the Municipal District #124 council, Smith resident George McClanaghan hopes to start the site preparation this spring on the site of the former Smith nuisance grounds.

Seven win double gold at home town TKD tournament
Seven Slave Lake martial artists turned the double gold trick at the eighth annual Northern Spirit Tae Kwon Do Championships in Slave Lake on Apr. 8. It isn’t easy to be the best in one’s division in both sparring and patterns, and is usually an indication that an athlete is at the top of his or her game.

Atom Raptors go 1- 3 in Edmonton tournament
Slave Lake’s Atom ‘B’ Raptors made a good account of themselves in a recent tournament in Edmonton, finishing second in the ‘C’ final of their division.
