Seven million in projects in Town budget
It took several weeks longer than usual, but Slave Lake Town Council finally wrestled its 2006 budget to the ground last week. The resulting document calls for spending $10 million on operations and $7 million on capital projects, plus another $829,000 into reserves against future projects.
M.D. passes five per cent tax increase
M.D. #124 Council passed a new mill rate by-law last week that will see a roughly five per cent increase in taxes for both residential and non-residential types of property.

More than 300 kids take to the soccer fields
Soccer got underway in Slave Lake on May 2, with 23 teams and roughly 310 players. Most of those are in the house leagues, and the majority are in the younger age groups. Only three of the teams will travel to tournaments.
What kind of a community do we want to see in 20 years?
