After some wet weather at the beginning of the schedule, the South Shore Senior Men’s Baseball League is off and running. League spokesperson Harry Bartlett delivers the score.
“The Monday night (May 29) game saw the Cardinals beat Wabasca 12-6,” says Bartlett. It was tied at six apiece after five innings until the Cardinals erupted for six runs with their last two at bat. Cardinal’s pitcher Chris Anderson picked up the win.
“Greg Cardinal was impressive with a three-run homer for the Cardinals,” says Bartlett.
Three nights later, the Boss Pressure Red Sox squeaked by the Eagles 2-1.
“It was a very defensive game,” Bartlett says.
Sox pitcher Brad McTavish picked up the win before Trevor Vance and Brent Blachford closed the game.
“The Sox scored their two runs in the first inning and never scored again. The Eagles did not score until the bottom of the seventh inning,” Bartlett says.
On the mound for the Eagles were Scott Sinclair and Kyle Hansen.
To ensure a strong turnout by players in the next few weeks, games scheduled for Monday and Wednesday will both be played on Tuesdays to observe the Edmonton Oilers’ run for the cup.
