This was the scene after a late model Ford Escape (right) slammed into the service area of SL Ford last Tuesday. Four people were taken to the Slave Lake Health Centre via ambulance including two SL Ford employees. Of those two, one was transferred to Edmonton with multiple broken bones. As a strange twist of fate, it was just over a year ago when a truck plowed into the parts department. That crash was due to a medical condition. The recent mayhem was caused by an alleged impaired driver.

Impaired driving causes bodily harm at SL Ford
Emergency services rushed to SL Ford last Tuesday afternoon after an SUV came careening down the grass, across the parking lot, and slammed into the middle service bay. The vehicle, a late model Ford Escape, collided with another Ford that employees were working on which, in turn, crashed into a Hummer. It was approximately 2:20 p.m. when police saw the aftermath while on patrol.

There’s little question who Carol Ann Porterfield and son Dustin, 11 (almost), are cheering for, but at an average five points per playoff game, Carol Ann is breathing down the neck of collective leaders Cory Huska and George Schell in the Rotary club’s NHL hockey pool. Going into Monday’s game, she was in fifth spot.

All bets were off in some circles last week when Edmonton Oilers’ goalie Dwayne Roloson’s kneecap went south while the rest of his body was headed north – or something like that. At any rate, the player who many would argue is the Oilers’ mainstay is gone for the season – six games or so before his time.
