Poison gas clears Super 8
No one was seriously hurt last Thursday morning when chlorine gas erupted in the swimming pool area of Slave Lake’s Super 8 Motel. But there were a few tense moments as two employees rushed to contain the fumes and evacuate all the guests.
Theft, chase land girls in a heap of trouble
Residents in the northeast part of Slave Lake were awakened early on the morning of July 25 by the sound of a police pursuit. It wasn’t exactly a high-speed affair, which was probably why it lasted as long as it did.

Bantam Heat go 1 - 2 at provincials
Slave Lake’s Bantam boys baseball team put in a respectable showing at the Bantam A2 provincial championship tournament in Wetaskiwin on the July 22 weekend. They lost their first, won their second and lost their third.
Red Sox edge Cardinals for early series lead
The Boss Pressure Red Sox took a step towards retaining their Southshore Men’s Baseball League title last week. In the first game of the best-of-five championship series, the Sox beat the Slave Lake Cardinals by an 8 – 5 score.
