Big housing project looms for S.W. Slave Lake
The development news just keeps piling up. Last week Town council approved a proposal by an “extremely motivated” company to purchase 17 acres in the southwest part of Slave Lake. The positive vote means Melvax Properties Inc. begins negotiating on the details.
Business continues to wrestle with staffing crunch
Can a job pay reasonably well and still be a dime a dozen? You bet. It’s happening right now in Slave Lake. It seems that every store is hiring, from Tim Horton’s and Wal-Mart to the little movie store on the corner. Business owners are finding they have to be creative to attract competent staff.

Red Sox take 2 - 0 lead in baseball final
The Boss Pressure Red Sox have taken a vise-like grip on the Southshore Men’s Baseball League final series. After last Wednesday’s 7 – 0 shut-out of the Slave Lake Cardinals, the Sox are up two games to none in the best of five series.
Sharks host swim meet, win nine medals
Slave Lake swimmers won nine aggregate medals in their home meet on July 29th. With 142 swimmers from clubs all over northwestern Alberta, it was a fine showing for the 31 members of the Slave Lake Sharks.
