Slave Lake families caught up in bombing, evacuation in Lebanon
These are tense and troubling times for Lebanese Canadians, including several families in Slave Lake. When Israeli planes started bombing Lebanon last month there were members of at least three Slave Lake families in the country. Some are back home safely, but as of late last week, not all were.

PC golf tournament draws a big crowd to Gilwood
According to organizers, 148 people showed up at the Gilwood Golf Course for the Lesser Slave Lake Progressive Conservative Association fundraising tournament on Aug. 4. Even more turned out for the ‘Northern Barbecue’ banquet that followed.

Red Sox win fourth straight baseball title
Make it four league championships in a row for the Boss Pressure Red Sox. The team that for years was second or third best in the Southshore Men’s League is now the monster squad that can’t be beat.
