Stand-off in southwest Slave Lake
Police ended a seven-hour standoff on Aug. 13 with a man claiming he wanted to kill himself. Officers ended things by sending a police dog into the man’s home.
New traffic by-law: unhitched trailers will be ticketed

A really big turnout of competitors and spectators made the Flat Top Motorsports Association’s moto-cross race event quite a success. Nearly 400 riders from around the province showed up for two days of racing on the Flat Top track – acknowledged by many as one of the best
Sharks compete at regional meet
The Slave Lake Sharks swim team continued its winning ways at a swim meet in Peace River on Aug. 12. Eleven Sharks attended and brought home 17 medals.
