Province offers $13.7 million for new Catholic high school
Bursting at the seams. That is an adequate description of how many students were enrolled at St. Mary of the Lake School last year. And the year before, and so on. The road to accommodate the ever-expanding student body has been a long and bumpy one but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Slave Lake in 30 years
A growth study for Slave Lake predicts a population of 24,000 by the year 2035. In terms of physical growth, the Town would need 15 more quarter sections of land to accommodate the growth.

Wolves’ camp opens with decent numbers
The Slave Lake Wolves Jr. ‘B’ tryout camp opened on the weekend, with about 35 players showing up. A few of those were Midget-aged players there more for the experience, but it was still a good turnout compared to many years.

Locals take second in 45-and-over ball tournament
Five local, or at least semi-local, baseball players joined with some Edmonton players to challenge for the gold at the Western Canadian Fall Classic in Red Deer last month. Played Aug. 24 – 27, the tournament featured teams of 45-year-olds and older.
