Police downgrade death from suspicious to non-criminal
Slave Lake RCMP responded to a call of a suspected dead body Monday, Sept. 19. The call came in at approximately 8:30 a.m. after a middle-aged woman was found lying in the ditch behind the Sawridge Truckstop on 6th Ave. NE. When police arrived, they confirmed the woman was deceased.
From Norway to northern Alberta
Students of E.G. Wahlstrom School (EGW) are in the middle of learning about other cultures. Grete Bergesen and Birgit Dalaker are two seniors from Norway visiting family in Slave Lake. It is only natural that all paths intersected at the school last Tuesday morning. Well, maybe not natural, but EGW teacher Barbara Sargunaraj is related to Birgit and facilitated the meeting.

‘Hawks hit the ice
With their season opener 3 ˝ weeks away, the Slave Lake Winterhawks are back on the ice. At one practice per week, it’s not what anyone would call an intense schedule, but it is par for the course for Senior hockey in this town. Maybe in other towns too.
Wolves prepare for season opener
Ready or not, the Slave Lake Wolves dive into regular season play this weekend, with games against Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek.
