Come one, come all….eat spaghetti at the Elk’s Hall! It’s the annual ambulance society all-you-can-eat spaghetti feed, and it’s coming right up, on Oct. 17. That’s a Tuesday, and it runs from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. The cost is $8.00 for an adult, $4.00 for a child and $20.00 for a family.

What else is going on? Well, this week is Smile Cookie week at Tim Horton’s, we are reliably informed. Timmy’s will be selling big chocolate chip cookies with a smile on them all week from Tuesday through Sunday for a dollar apiece. The proceeds go to the local fire department for its junior firefighter program. Some of the firefighters and their mascot will be down at the restaurant at various times, says manager Darrel Mackay, so come on down and help a good cause!
Darryl says in other Tim Horton’s communities, companies often challenge each other to match or better their contribution to the campaign, so he’s looking forward to some of that going on as well.

The Rotary Club has a couple of things on the go, and according to Harry Bartlett, who stopped in the office last Thursday with his weekly update, they are going well. He said last Tuesday and Wednesday were the best two days yet for ticket sales in the $10,000 cash raffle. Meanwhile, interest is picking up strongly for the Oct. 21 Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Night. Space is limited to 200 seats for that event, which awards a trip for two to an as-yet-to-be-named resort as the top prize.
