Local leaders react to Stelmach’s new cabinet

One dead after crash on Hwy #754
Police and emergency services raced to the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Hwy #754 Dec. 14 approximately 40 kms north of Slave Lake. It was just after 4:30 p.m. when the call came in.
Rent hikes vs. fixed income
When Yvonne Brooker’s rent went up $50 in August, she made a call to the Slave Lake Housing Authority. She lives on a fixed income and an extra $50 was not in the budget. She wondered if she would qualify for rent subsidy. Then she learned that rent is going up another $100 in March. Now she hopes that she can get into a subsidized apartment before it’s too late.

Kim Tanasiuk of Santa’s team (RCMP) has Rudolph (Fire Dept.) goalie Brian Keller and the entire defence at her mercy in last Thursday’s charity hockey game at the Arctic Ice Centre. Organizer Angie Brace says the event collected about twice as much food, toys and cash as last year, for the food bank, Santas Anonymous and the Salvation Army.

Winterhawks demolish opponents opponents
The Fox Creek Bandits and Jasper Wolves came to town on the weekend for games against the Slave Lake Winterhawks. They left having surrendered 27 goals and four points to the ‘Hawks.
Wolves lose to Beaverlodge
