So much snow fell last week that they were having a hard time finding places to put it. At Northern Lakes College in Slave Lake they piled it on top of the already big piles of snow to make mountains.

Town proposes 'status quo' budget
Slave Lake property owners will likely see a three per cent increase in taxes in 2007. That’s the bottom line from the ’07 budget, as presented in draft form at council’s Jan. 9 meeting.
Town seeks crosswalk enforcement
Slave Lake Town council wants law enforcement officials to pay more attention to crosswalks in town. Councillors also expressed a desire at their Jan. 9 meeting to educate the public about the rules regarding crosswalks. They passed a couple of motions to that effect, including one about lighting.

Winterhawks’ forward Brent Hill backs up goalie Sheldon Ghostkeeper as Onoway players hover for a rebound in Sunday’s North Central Hockey League game in Slave Lake. The Ice Dogs didn’t get the rebound but they got plenty of others in a 7 - 1 win.

Winterhawks win, lose
The Slave Lake Winterhawks have a reputation for being very tough to beat on their home ice. That reputation held up on Saturday against the Drayton Valley Wildcats, but took a beating Sunday against Onoway.
Wolves suffer on the road
The Slave Lake Wolves’ road woes continued on the weekend. On Saturday they got bombed 11 – 3 by the Fort St. John Huskies and Sunday they lost 6 – 3 to the Grande Prairie Wheelers.
